Today I want to share with you a small gallery of nature photographs that primarily focus on the focus and bokeh of the lens to produce a stunning image. Bokeh is becoming more popular by the day and I for one am noticing that the nature and macro galleries are showing many deviations using bokeh. But before we start, lets get a description of what the word "bokeh" actually means.

Bokeh (derived from Japanese bokeaji ボケ味, "blur") is a photographic term referring to the appearance of out-of-focus areas in an image produced by a camera lens. Different lens bokeh produces different aesthetic qualities in out-of-focus backgrounds, which are often used to reduce distractions and emphasize the primary subject.

In layman terms, when the depth of field is changed by the lens focal length and aperture, details behind and in front of the subject will be out of focus, this usually creates an artistic blur or in the cases of light, light spots. This is bokeh.

For more information on bokeh, please read the report written by Klaus Shuler - bokehtests.com/Site/About_Boke…

Below is a small collection of images mainly focusing on the bokeh of the image to create wonderful patterns. Some people adore bokeh and some people don't like it and think it ruins an image, but please take a moment to think about bokeh as a natural element produced by the lens. We can control the lighting but we cannot control the shapes bokeh creates.
